After repeatedly hearing about women who fell victim to purse theft, I was devastated by how violated and exposed they felt. Beyond the emotional impact, they faced significant work to close credit accounts, request new cards, follow up on unapproved purchases, and replace IDs and personal items, sometimes costing over $500. I realized there had to be a way to prevent such situations.
I noted that thefts weren’t limited to purses but also affected students’ backpacks, luggage, and computer bags. I envisioned a product with two clips and a short secure chain tethering the bag to a larger object. This would create a struggle when a criminal tried to steal it, ideally thwarting their efforts and preventing the crisis for the victim.
With a plan in mind, I shared the idea with relatives and friends who were enthusiastic. I hired a patent company specializing in manufacturing and packaging, and my dream to provide a simple security solution to deter theft became a reality.
